Data Protections

We, NürnbergMesse GmbH, are delighted with your interest in our Internet presentation and the offers on our websites. The protection of your personal data (hereinafter referred to in short as “ data”), your personality rights as well as the respect of your right to informational self-determination in the gathering, processing and utilization of your personal data are matters of major importance to us.

Personal data is all data which relates to you personally, in other words for example, your name, address, e-mail addresses, user behaviour.

Personal data is gathered, processed and utilized by NürnbergMesse, our representative offices and agencies, and if necessary, by our exhibition service partners in accordance with the regulations set down by the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (Federal Data Protection Act) along with other data protection-relevant regulations aimed at supporting and providing information to our customers and interested parties as well as handling the services offered.

On the following pages we would like to inform you in detail about which data is gathered when you visit our Internet presence and make use of our offers listed there and how this data is then subsequently processed or utilized by us, as well as about the supporting protection measures we have also taken in technical and organisational terms.

1. Gathering and utilization of your data

The scope and type of gathering along with the utilization of your data varies according to whether you are making use of our Internet presence to solely access information or whether you are making use of the services we offer:

1.1 Informational use

If you are using our Internet presence purely for informational purposes it is in principle not necessary for you to state your personal data.

On the contrary, in this case we gather and use only those elements of your data which your Internet browser automatically forwards to us, for example:

  • date and time of your visit to our website
  • IP number shortened with last digits omitted, which your Internet provider has allocated to you
  • the selected website
  • the user tool (i. e. web browser, operating system), which you use to access the site
  • the search term used
  • whether the access was successful or not.

We gather and use this data when you visit our site for informational purposes exclusively in non-personal form. This is conducted in order to enable you to utilize the Internet pages you have accessed at all, for statistical reasons and also to improve our range of Internet offers and services. We only save the IP address for the duration of your visit, no personally-related evaluation is conducted.

1.2 Making use of offers, services and functions on our website

In addition to the purely information-based utilisation of our website, we offer various services, which you can make use of if interested. To do so, you must, as a rule, state further personal data, which we require for rendering the respective services. If the stating of additional voluntary data is possible this is marked correspondingly.

When making contact with the service-provider by e-mail or via the contact form, your e-mail address and, if you state them, your name and telephone number, are saved by us in order to answer your questions. 1.3 Using the blog functions

1.3 Nutzung der Blog-Funktionen

You can make public comments in our blog, in which we post various articles on relevant themes and topics. If you submit a comment, this is published in connection with the corresponding presentation and in the process, the username you have stated (if necessary pseudonym), is displayed. Stating your website is voluntary. If you submit a comment, we internally save your e-mail and IP address whereby the latter is automatically deleted. This is due to the fact that in certain circumstances we may be liable for the publication of illegal contents. The comments are not examined prior to publication. We check them however on a random testing basis and can delete them if they possibly have an illegal content.

2. Consent based on data protection law

Above and beyond the processing of the services you require, we would like – of course only in so far as you explicitly grant consent in a separate instance – to provide you with an Internet presentation geared to your interests as well as from time to time, on the basis of your data, send you by post or e-mail, interesting new features and information on our company’s range of services and use your data for the necessary evaluation in this process as well as for market research purposes.

For this purpose, it is technically necessary for us to summarize your accumulated as well as stated data in usage profiles and evaluate it for the previously mentioned purposes. This will be conducted only on an internal basis and only for the afore-mentioned purposes.

You can submit your consent separately. You can subsequently revoke it with effect for a future date (compare 11. here).

3. Data forwarding to third parties

3.1 We can then forward your personal data to third parties, if services, promotional competitions, prize competitions, bookings or contract conclusions are offered by us in cooperation with a third-party provider. In this case you will receive separate notification of the forwarding of your data to third parties.

3.2 In some cases we make use of the services offered by external service-providers in order to process your data. We have carefully selected such providers and commissioned them with the rendering of such services in writing. They are bound by our instructions and regularly subjected to our controls. The service-providers will not pass on this data to third parties.

3.3 Because NürnbergMesse GmbH operates worldwide, we will send your data if necessary to subsidiaries/international representatives of the NürnbergMesse Group, in particular to the subsidiary /international representative located in your country or responsible for your region, in order to process your order or inquiry.

4. Information about your computer, cookies and targeting

4.1 Each time someone accesses our site, we gather the following information about the user’s computer: The IP address of your computer, shortened with the last digits omitted, allocated to you by your Internet-provider, the enquiry submitted by your browser as well as the time taken to make this enquiry. In addition, the status and the transferred data volume within the framework of this enquiry are registered. In this process, the IP address of your computer is only stored in short form for the duration of your website use. The other data is saved for a limited duration. We use this data to operate our website, especially for troubleshooting and error rectification on the website, in order to determine the capacity utilization of the website and to undertake adjustments or improvements.

4.2 It may possibly be the case that we also gather information about your use of our website through the application of so-called browser cookies. These are small text files, which are stored on your data-carrier and which save specific settings and data for the exchange with our system via your browser. As a rule, a cookie contains the name of the domain from which the cookie files were sent together with information about the age of the cookies along with an alpha-numerical identifier. Cookies enable our systems to recognize the user’s device and to immediately make available any possible pre-settings. As soon as a user accesses the platform, a cookie is sent to the respective user’s computer hard drive. Cookies help us to improve our website and provide you with a better service which is even more effectively tailored to your requirements. They enable us to recognize your computer when you return to our website and as a result:

  • store information about your preferred activities on the website and thus gear our website to your individual interests. This includes, for example, advertising which corresponds to your personal interests;
  • accelerate the speed at which your enquiries are processed;

4.3 In the cookies we use, only the data explained above relating to your use of the website is stored. This is effected not through an allocation to you personally but the provision of an identification number for the cookie (“cookie ID”). The process of combining the cookie ID with your name, your IP address or with similar data, which would enable the cookie to be allocated to you, does not take place. You can find out how to block the use of browser cookies under Item 4.4.

4.4 Should you not require the use of browser cookies, you can adjust your browser in such a way that it does not accept the storage of cookies. Please note that in this case the use of our website may be possible only to a limited extent or not at all. If you only wish to accept our own cookies but not the cookies of our service-providers and partners, you can select the “block cookies of third-party providers” setting in your browser

6. Social media plug-ins
6.1 Use of social media plug-ins

6.1.1 We are currently using the following social-media plug-ins: Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Xing, LinkedIn, Instagram. In doing so, we employ the so-called 2-click solution. That means that when you visit our pages, initially, in principle, no personal data is transferred to these plug-in providers. You can recognize the provider of the plug-ins by the marking on the greyed out box above the first letter. Only when you click on one of the plug-ins, is personal data transferred: with the activation of the plug-in, data is automatically transferred to the respective plug-in provider and stored there (in the case of US providers, in the USA). We have neither influence on the data gathered and data-processing processes nor do we have any knowledge of the full extent of the data gathering, the purposes of this gathering along with the data storage periods. As the plug-in provider conducts data gathering in particular through the use of cookies, we recommend that prior to clicking on the greyed out box you delete all cookies by using the security settings on your browser.

6.1.2 If you activate a plug-in, the plug-in provider receives the information that you have accessed on the corresponding sub-page of our online services. In addition, the data mentioned under Item. 1.1 of this declaration is transferred, whereby in the case of Facebook and Xing, according to the information supplied by the respective providers in Germany, only one anonymized IP is gathered. This is effected irrespective of whether you have an account with this plug-in provider and are logged in with them. If you are logged in with the plug-in provider, this data is then directly allocated to your account. If you click on the activated button and for example create a link to the page, the plug-in provider also stores this information in your user account and publicly informs your contacts accordingly. If you wish to avoid the allocation with your profile using this plug-in provider, you must log-out before activating the button.

6.1.3 The plug-in provider stores this data as a usage profile and uses it for purposes of advertising, market research and/or structuring his website according to requirements. Such an evaluation is effected in particular (also for non-logged in users) for the display of advertising as required and in order to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have the right to object against the creation of this user profile, whereby in order to exercise this right you must contact the respective plug-in provider.

6.1.4 You can obtain further information on the purpose and extent of the data gathering and its processing by the plug-in provider in the following data-protection declarations of these providers as notified. There you will also receive further information on your rights and settings options in this connection for the protection of your privacy.
